Why the "Just Hire an SDR" Math Keeps Coming Up Short
Every appointment-setting agency in this category runs the same opening argument: hiring is expensive, slow to ramp, and hard to retain, so buy meetings instead. That argument is not agency spin. The underlying numbers, compiled from Bridge Group's compensation research and several independent SDR-benchmarking blogs, back it up on their own.
A fully loaded SDR salary is only the first line item. Ramp time delays the first meeting. Turnover resets the clock on that ramp roughly once every 14 to 18 months. Quota attainment, even after a rep is fully ramped, still misses target more than half the time in the worst-performing segment. Stacked together, those four numbers are the real cost of an in-house hire, and almost none of them show up on a job posting.
How to Read the Confidence Labels Below
Bridge Group's own primary SDR research report is gated behind a lead-capture form, so most of the figures below reach this page through secondary aggregators (Martal, Salesso, Dialfyne, Visdum) that cite Bridge Group or RepVue rather than a number pulled directly from the primary source. That does not make the figures wrong. It means they are best read as an industry estimate rather than a single, independently confirmed data point, and this page labels them that way rather than presenting a secondary citation as if it were primary research.
The Numbers
A fully loaded B2B SDR costs an estimated $98,000 to $173,000 a year, a figure attributed to Bridge Group's 2025 SDR Metrics and Compensation Report and reached here through a secondary aggregator, since the primary report is gated behind a lead form (industry estimate).

A more commonly cited base-comp figure for SMB and mid-market SDRs is roughly $55,000 base plus $30,000 variable, an estimated $80,000 to $85,000 total on-target earnings (industry estimate).
Average SDR ramp time to full productivity rose from 4.3 months in 2020 to 5.7 months in 2025, a 32% increase (industry estimate).
SDR turnover runs an estimated 34% annually, roughly 3 times the average across other industries, with median tenure of 14 to 18 months (industry estimate, citing Bridge Group).
SDR quota attainment averages 57.3% across all industries, and just 41.2% in software specifically, the lowest-performing segment measured (industry estimate, citing RepVue 2025).
SalesHive publishes a fully loaded in-house SDR cost of $700 to $1,150 per qualified meeting, its own stated figure for what a hire actually costs once salary, commission, and tools are counted.
Belkins arrives at a similar number from a different angle, calculating roughly $1,250 per meeting starting from an $8,000 to $12,000 a month fully loaded SDR salary on its own blog.
The market alternative to that in-house cost is a published pay-per-appointment range of $250 to $1,500 or more per meeting across the vendors surveyed in this research, which is the figure an in-house hire is really competing against.
