How many appointments does your install goal actually need?

Quick answer: install goal divided by appointment-to-sale rate gives you appointments needed. Appointments needed divided by lead-to-appointment rate gives you leads needed. Spread that across your weeks and you have a weekly booking target. Enter your numbers below and get all three.

Three divisions, top to bottom.

Set your install goal, your lead-to-appointment rate, and your appointment-to-sale rate. The calculator works top-down: goal to appointments, appointments to leads, appointments to a weekly target and a monthly budget.

Your Inputs

The calculator works backward from your install goal to a weekly booking target.

Defaults to SunVoy's published phone-lead booking rate. Referral leads book closer to 80%.

Defaults to SunVoy's published phone-lead close rate. Referral leads close closer to 37.5%.

Top-down, one division at a time.

This calculator runs four plain steps, each one feeding the next, using the same leads-per-sale formula Enervio publishes for solar pipeline math.

Step 1: Appointments needed

Install goal divided by appointment-to-sale rate, rounded up. A goal of 10 installs at a 25% A2S rate needs 40 appointments.

Step 2: Leads needed

Appointments needed divided by lead-to-appointment rate, rounded up. At a 71% L2A rate, 40 appointments needs 57 leads. This matches Enervio's leads-per-sale formula: 1 ÷ (L2A × A2S).

Step 3: Weekly target

Appointments needed divided by 4.33 weeks per month, rounded up. 40 appointments becomes a 10-per-week booking target.

Step 4: Monthly budget

Appointments needed multiplied by $249, VA Horizon's flat rate per booked appointment. 40 appointments is a $9,960 monthly appointment budget, before any one-time setup.

Appointments and leads are always rounded up, never down. A calculation that lands on 39.2 appointments still requires 40 whole appointments to fully cover the install goal, since a fractional appointment does not exist. The same logic applies to leads and to the weekly target.

Pipeline math, answered.

How do I calculate how many solar appointments I need to hit an install goal?
Divide your install goal by your appointment-to-sale rate to get appointments needed. Divide appointments needed by your lead-to-appointment rate to get leads needed. Divide appointments needed by the weeks in your month to get a weekly booking target. This calculator runs all three steps for you.
What lead-to-appointment and appointment-to-sale rates should I use if I do not know mine?
SunVoy's research on solar lead sources found phone leads book into an appointment roughly 71% of the time and close at roughly 25% of booked appointments, while referral leads book at roughly 80% and close at roughly 37.5%. This calculator defaults to the phone-lead figures as a conservative starting point. Replace them with your own tracked rates once you have a full month of data.
Where does the leads-per-sale formula come from?
Enervio's guide to calculating solar cost per lead states the formula as leads per sale equals 1 divided by the lead-to-appointment rate multiplied by the appointment-to-sale rate. This calculator applies that same formula to your install goal instead of a single hypothetical sale.
Does the monthly budget include the one-time setup fee?
No. The monthly budget shown is appointment volume only, at $249 per booked appointment. VA Horizon's $300 one-time setup fee, which covers your list build, campaign, and calendar integration, is billed once at kickoff and is not part of this recurring monthly number.
Why does the calculator round appointments and leads up?
Because partial appointments and partial leads do not exist in practice. If the math says you need 39.2 appointments to hit your goal, 39 will fall short of it, so the calculator rounds up to 40 to make sure your install goal is fully covered.
